Bought the adjustable arm and then this attachment for my sony vaio 18.4 inch mainframe. Not only does the arm and attachment combo straightforwardly accommodate my mainframe – what they do not highlight is that along with this attachment – they contain very nice non-slip wide strips that you manually adhere to the attachment so that your notebook does not slide (and they do a fantastic job). They also contain Velcro strips that you can adhere to the bottom of your mainframe and then apply to the attachment as well.With that being said – the small adjustable arms that come out to hold the mainframe (and they change straightforwardly and without any issues) could have been made out of a small nice material. It is value noting that I use an external keyboard and elevate my mainframe – this stand/attachment is not for use if you are going to be typing directly on the mainframe keyboard – I say that because the mainframe will jiggle with every keystroke – by no means falling off, but it will give you a headache to try to watch the screen as it vibrates with every keystroke. By and large – I am extremely pleased with this attachment – I went into it originally intending to use the desk mount with a monitor and then just chose to keep my mainframe as the monitor. Works perfectly.

This is an awesome product, though it’d work best if I had a rock solid desk. My desk wobbles a small bit and the notebook tray exhibits the same behavior (though this isn’t the fault of the tray). It hold my 13″ Aluminum Macbook just fine. The rubber strips were a very nice feature… you can tip the stand very nearly vertical before the mainframe starts sliding. Ergotron rocks!

I bought this tray along with the ergotron 3 monitor stand. Like it, I place two monitors with my mainframe in the middle. Perfect for opening multiple applications and viewing them at the same time. |
