Difference In Weight Between French And Americans

hy the French do not take as much weight as the Americans , considering all baguettes, cheese, pasta and pastries they eat? Some American researchers have identified a difference that could partially explain this "french paradox".

The French could use more clues internal hunger and satiety to stop eating. According to this research from Cornell University published in the journal Obesity.

The Americans are more likely to use external clues, such as if their plate is empty, they have finished their drink or if their television is complete.

"In addition, we observed that the more a person is overweight, whether American or French, the more it relies on external clues to stop eating less and it relies on satiety," says the principal author Brian Wansink.

"Too much reliance on external clues to stop a meal may provide a partial explanation of why the body mass index varies between individuals and possibly between cultures," says Collin Payne co-author.

The researchers analyzed the responses 133 and 145 Parisians Chigacoens to questionnaires. Obesity affects between 10 to 20% of the population in France, and between 20 to 30% in the USA.
