Several studies show that the average weight gain during holidays is relatively modest because it is half a kilo (one pound). But for people who are already overweight, the gain is much higher.

Most people do not reperdent weight taken according to the New England Journal of Medicine.

Since the average weight gain during adulthood is about one half to one kilogram (two pounds) per year, it means a lot of weight gain can be explained by the consumption of time feasts.

For people who are already overweight, a U.S. study shows that weight gain is about 2 kilograms (5 pounds) or more during the holiday period.

And it starts early in life. Holly Hull and his colleagues at the University of Oklahoma studied weight gain among 94 college students during the Thanksgiving holiday (Feast American celebrated the fourth Thursday of November).

The students were weighed one day before Thanksgiving and two weeks later. The average weight gain was half a kilo. But students who were overweight, ie whose body mass index (a measure that takes into account the weight and size) was 25 or more had taken about one kilo.
