T
he Acomplia weight loss drugs reduces system action of the brain responding to the cannabinoid system (which contributes to the sensation of pleasure).

This system plays an important role in regulating appetite, energy expenditure and metabolism of fat.

The effectiveness of this weight loss drug is relatively small. A clinical study involving 3000 U.S. and Canadian participants, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2006.

It shows that people are obese or overweight who took the drug for a year while consuming fewer calories lost in average of 14 pounds (about 6 kilos) against 10.5 pounds (about 4.5 kilos) for the comparison group who had also reduced its consumption of calories while taking their knowledge to a product rather than off the weight loss medication.

A difference of 1.5 kg and therefore these results do not take into account those who have abandoned the test.

The drug also provided a slight reduction in the levels of fat in the blood and improved cholesterol.

The JAMA study also notes that participants who took the weight loss drugs had a risk 2.7 times higher presenting disorders such as depression, anxiety and irritable mood and nausea. Because of these side effects and a higher risk of suicide, together with the modest effectiveness, the weight loss drug is not authorized to USA.
