wo eggs for breakfast bagel that would be better when trying to get rid of pounds. This is the conclusion conducted at the University of Louisiana, supported financially by the American Egg Board. The researchers recruited 79 people with overweight (ie whose body mass index, or BMI, was equal to or greater than 25). They proposed a diet of 1 000 calories per day.
As part of the study, half the subjects took a breakfast consisting of a bagel, cream cheese and yogurt, for a total of 339 calories. The other ate rather two scrambled eggs, a toast and a little jam, for a total of 340 calories.
After eight weeks of this regime, those who had eaten eggs for breakfast lost an average of 2.63 kilos, and their BMI had fallen by 0.95 point. In comparison, those who were fed bagels had lost 1.59 kg and their BMI had decreased by 0.59 point.
"The eggs contain proteins that satisfied more than carbohydrate bagels. People who have eaten eggs have probably not been hungry before lunch, while others may have eroded in the morning and exceeded 1 000 calories, "she says.
A third group ate eggs for breakfast, but did not follow the diet. No significant weight loss was observed among these participants.
Eating eggs thus help to lose weight only when you combine this habit to a controlled regime.
