diet rich in vegetables promotes weight loss and maintenance, as well as helping to lower cholesterol and protect against cardiovascular disease, according to an investigation conducted Meredith Abete for his doctoral thesis.The study, conducted by the researcher in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Navarra, has involved 32 volunteers who underwent two diets for weight loss.
The first, based on the intake of vegetables four times a week and had a low glycemic index, so that there carbohydrates were similar slowly fostering a feeling of satiety, which improved tracking the diet and, therefore, the weight loss.
In the second, consisting of a high glycemic index diet, there was a minor weight loss, reports the University of Navarra in a note.
